Happy Birthday Brian...

Today is my son, Brian's birthday. Your life changes forever when your wife whispers those three little words,"I am pregnant!". This was back in the day before ultrasounds and dads being in the delivery room. But it's worth it all when the doctor tells you, "It's a boy!" Well now Brian has two sons of his own and I'm sure he is just as proud of them as I am of him and his brothers.
Brian and me.

Happy birthday Brian!!! Have a great day! Love ya', ♥Mom and Dad♥

Remember when...?

Me by the wall at the old Glenn Funeral Home location.
Glenn Taylor standing and me setting.

Here are a couple of old pictures taken at the former Glenn Funeral Home location on Fourth Street in Owensboro, Kentucky. Of course Glenn and I are a little older and bigger than we were back then. My parents lived in an apartment over the funeral home at the time I was born. Check out that baby stroller. I wonder how much you could get for one of those on ebay?

Happy Birthday...

Darlene's parents are Elzie and Lucille Williams. Their birthdays are two days apart, Mrs. Williams is on December 27th and Mr. Williams is December 29th. Darlene's parents have both passed away. He died in 1976 and she died in 1995. We still miss them very much and think about them often.

Little Lucille and her baby doll.

One funny thing about my in-laws is that Mrs. Williams maiden name was Williams also. This would give Darlene fits when she registered on the first day of school. The teacher thought Darlene didn't understand what "Mother's maiden name" meant when she filled out her paperwork.☺ Have a great day and God bless.

Marty Keller...

Kate with her Dad.

Marty and Doris Keller.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou art with me. Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Traveling today...

It's the day after Christmas, while most people will be shopping and returning gifts they don't need or want, Darlene and I will being going "up home". This is where most of Darlene's extended family lives in the Lewisburg and Russelville area of Kentucky. Two of the people we will be visiting are Dot and Violet pictured here in this old Christmas photo. They are Darlene's cousins. Check out Dot's shoes aren't they cool??? We pray you will have a wonderful day, God bless.

Christmas Day...

Today is Christmas. In my family this means we go to my Mother's house. Mom's gift to us was a wonderful meal. She's a great cook and we all love to eat, so you know we had a good time. Here are some pictures we took today.
Donnie's mom, Donna stopped by for a visit. It was great to see her.

Mom's busy kitchen.

Sam enjoying his new three wheeler.

Stephanie, Darlene and Kelly pose for me in this picture.

My sister Susan and my brother Sherman are having a very intent discussion.

This is my Dad and this is one of the few times he is setting down during our Christmas visit.
We did get some sad news last night our good friend Kate's father passed away. He had been sick a long time. Please pray for her and her family during this time of sorrow. Kate we pray that the Comforter comforts you. God bless you.

Christmas Eve...

Today we had our Christmas at Mammaw and Poppy's house. Above Aly shows off her webkins Lion and Garrett is opening presents. Mom takes a picture with Jeff and Melissa before they head back to Tennessee. We had a good day.

Last night was the Williams Christmas party. We had a good time together. We showed old video clips, had supper while choosing from a Russian menu and played "left and right" gift card exchange. The first picture is of little Landon, isn't he cute. Next is Kaylee, Ashly and Haylee sharing a hug. Kelly and Sherri are heating up the kitchen. Of course the supper setting looks good before we get started. Uncle Glen (Me), Crissy and Nicholas before things got started. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends...

Christmas music...

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Christmas and music, you can have music without Christmas but you can't have Christmas without music...
God bless you,

For unto us...

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas...

I was thinking today how much fun we had at Christmas when our sons were young. Buying their favorite toys and watching them opening them on Christmas morning. This is a picture of Joey, Brian and Jeff in the sweaters their Mammaw Williams bought them that year. This was taken in 1987. Check out Joey's smile. Have a wonderful day!

What is Christmas?

Darlene sitting under the Christmas tree looking good as always, Christmas 1970. The first Christmas we would spend together would be two years later. I can't imagine Christmas without her.
What is Christmas? Trees, lights, gifts, food, family, Santa, jingle bells, music, tradition, joy, church, home, children, cookies, toys, shopping, snow, giving, manger, plays, angels, friends, tinsel, hope, presents, dolls, ornaments, reindeer, bows, wreaths, mistletoe, holly, stockings, candles, candy, cards, nativity, holiday, sleighs, snowmen, star, Advent, shepherds, Mary, Joseph, Bible, Scrooge, caroling, poinsettia, birthday, Jesus... It's all this and more, so much more. God's gift to us. The gift we could never afford ourselves. Eternal life. For God so loved...

My cousin David Nuckols...

Here is a picture of me with my cousin David Nuckols. That's David on the left, how about those suspenders. I asked Mom when this was taken and she thinks is was a Sunday afternoon at her parents house. David died back in April this year. He was only 53 years old. I missed seeing him at the reunion Sunday.

It's a great day...

This has been a great day! No I'm not talking about the weather which was cold and icy all day. Any day you get to see all of your grandchildren is a great day. Joey called and wanted to meet us at Texas Roadhouse for supper. Of course we couldn't pass up a chance to see Austin, Aly and Noah. We had a good time with Joey, Kelly and the kids. On the way home we stopped by Brian and Stephanie's to see the boys, Garrett and Gavin. They have no problem keeping us entertained. Which brings us to the picture of the ornament. This happens to be Gavin's favorite. Can you tell he likes Mickey Mouse? Well I hope you have as great a day tomorrow as I have had today. God bless you.

More reunion pictures...

Here are some more pictures from yesterday's reunion. The first one is of Mom and Joey. The next is of Me and My great nephew Sam. Jackie is talking with her Dad, Sherman in the third one. We stayed in Lewisport that afternoon and in the evening we went to the children's play at Lewisport Baptist Church. The last one is of Noah that Darlene took with my cell phone. When Noah sat down by his Mammaw he hugged her and whispered, "Mammaw, don't ever get married." I wonder who he thinks I am???

McMahan Christmas reunion today...

Today was our McMahan family reunion. We had a good time and lots of great food too. We took a few pictures. You might notice that I'm not in any of these pictures, I didn't want to mess up the camera. Here is one and we are all looking serious in this shot.

Then we took another picture of us just being silly.

But we settled down an took this picture of our naturally good looking selves.

Isn't my family some of the best looking people you have ever seen? I'm really proud to be a part of this group.

George William McMahan Sr.

Here is a picture of my Grand Dad with his Mother, Malinda Howard McMahan. I have no idea when this was taken but I wanted to share it with you today.

My Grand Dad was a farmer here in western Kentucky and a quiet man. He never said much but when he did you listened. He loved his grandkids and we enjoyed visiting him and Mama Esther. I have been so blessed to have gotten to know all four of my grandparents and will share more pictures later. Have a great day and God bless...

Mama Esther..

Today I thought I would share a picture of my Mama Esther, my Mom's Mother. In this picture the baby she is holding is me and I'm only a few months old so this was probably taken in the summer of 1953.

I really loved my Mama Esther and loved to hear her laugh. I always thought that I was her "favorite" but now that I'm a grandparent myself I treat all my grandchildren as if they were "favorites". We love them all the same.

I have another picture of that same baby being held by his eighteen year old Mother. Mom looks so young and I have been fortunate to be surrounded by so many wonderful women who have helped me be the man I am today. I can honestly say this is the first woman I have ever loved and will always love forever!

McMahan Christmas Reunion...

Sunday my Mother's family will have a reunion. We have two reunions a year, one in the summer and another in December. My grandparents had ten children, five sons and five daughters. Here is a picture of them plus some grandchildren taken back in the 1940's.

Here is another picture taken in the late 60's or early 70's. Check out those duds they are wearing. And honestly they do smile sometimes ;-)

Here it is! Isn't she cute?

Young Darlene...

Darlene is the most wonderful, caring and loving person I know. We married young but when you know it's the right thing to do everything works out. Here is an early picture of us.

She looked good then and she still looks good!

Donny's birthday

My brother's son, Donny's birthday is today. I thinks it's neat that father and son have birthday's one day after the other. Here is a picture of Donnie a couple of years ago. But he still looks great :-) Happy birthday Donny!
